Our Personalised Approach

Let's do This Together

Our mission is to inspire a healthy caring community                                     where everyone thrives.

Recovery coaching is strengths based coaching that focuses on recovery from all addictions including substances, food, money, work and relationships.
Recovery coaching helps clients develop and deepen their unique path to recovery. It helps to reduce the likelihood of relapse and build a stable foundation for a life of recovery, growth and happiness.
Our goal as your recovery coach is to serve as your mentor and support you in removing barriers and obstacles to your recovery.
We will focus on building your self awareness: helping you define your goals and optimize your fulfillment in life and work. We will hold you accountable through a supportive, nurturing relationship.

You Are Our Focus

Your Recovery Path Begins Here

How does Recovery Coaching work?

We'll ask you to provide (confidentially) your drinking or drug consumption history, any history of traumatic events, mental health concerns, any help or treatment you've already tried, where you're currently at and what your goals might be if we work together. We’ll then arrange an initial “no-charge” 30-minute consultation by video or phone to help determine if Recovery Coaching is a good fit for you.

From there, we get down to work and begin customizing plans and objectives to, in part:

  1. Create a road map to cut back or develop a slip/recurrence prevention strategy
  2. Develop a personalized change-plan
  3. Work towards developing self-confidence and self-esteem in this new lifestyle; and look at life beyond substance use, addiction and recovery

Once the early objectives are established, we work to make recovery and change worthwhile by re-creating a lifestyle that complements your goals whether full abstinence or not.

What makes Recovery Coaching such a strong approach?

Recovery is personal. Our approach is not cookie-cutter — we help create a plan that works for you. We utilize modern and progressive approaches to help clients change.

Throughout the entire process we place greater focus and awareness on the personal choices, actions, and responsibilities related to your lifestyle change. You identify what you need, what you want, how you are going to get there and then we executive the plan together.

Believe it or not, the easy part is quitting drinking or using drugs. The hard part is learning how to recreate your life without alcohol or drugs.

As we work together and your recovery journey unfolds, a natural accountability partnership develops. This is the space where you are supported, and held accountable for your process-of-change.

This accountability partnership can be one of the most effective tools in sustaining long-term recovery maintenance. I assist you every step of the way, including providing support in between sessions via text or telephone.

You’re about to recreate your life and it’s not always simple. I’m there when the rubber hits the road.

Over the time that we have been providing Recovery Coaching services, we’ve found that individuals seeking support often fall into one of three general categories.

We've listed these categories below, accompanied with the level of support you would generally receive from our Recovery Coaching services.

Read the following profiles below and see if any of these resonate with your current experience. If you don’t align completely with the stories here, it’s okay: everybody’s process is unique! We've added one category for those looking for help for a loved one or friend.

A Few Examples

Your mental health have become so problematic that life around you is crumbling.

Maybe you’re in denial or are hiding your feelings. Your relationships are crumbling, your body is screaming for you to stop, there are problems at work, and you could be facing financial strains, especially if you’re moving money around – or even stealing it – to support your consumption.

If you’re there, it’s okay. Now you’re here. We’re going to help get you out.

We’ll talk about your concerns, your needs, and together we’ll customize a change-plan. It’s discreet and confidential to just you and me, unless you want others to be part of your process (which can be helpful). We’ll take a multifaceted approach. Some of the components of your plan "may" include:

  • Weekly Recovery Coaching sessions
  • Medical detox
  • In-patient residential or out-patient treatment placement
  • Safe Passage transportation to in-patient treatment
  • Post-treatment aftercare planning
  • Sober Companion
  • Clinical counselling
  • Psychological or Psychiatric assessment
  • Developing a recovery network
  • Managing the transition from inpatient residential treatment back to work and home
  • Relapse-prevention strategies
  • Text and/or telephone support in between session

This is tricky. We sometimes get asked if we're OK with moderation. We would need to assess the circumstances.

Most people come to us because drinking, drug use, mental health or other matters are impacting their lives and often the lives of others in a negative way. They also come to us because they have a genuine desire to stop altogether and/or live a better life. But, not always. One has to decide whether the benefits of drinking or drug use outweigh the benefits of not consuming those substances. More often than not, the benefits of not consuming far outweigh the alternative.

It really is a personal choice. Sometimes clients may not be ready to stop cold-turkey and that's ok. We can work with that. A question could be: how do you show up in the world as a consumer of alcohol or drugs? Are you happy with that person? Does that person affect others in a negative way?

Often we will get to the place where my clients see that abstinence is a better way to be. We are open-minded in who we work with.

We will explore the best approach for you that will likely include only 1:1 Recovery Coaching. We will get you to identify trigger-points and get you to complete daily logs for a month to track trends and impacts. We could work together for a few months and measure various markers for growth and see what's working and what's not working.

You’re a family member, loved one, friend, colleague, business owner, or manager of someone who has a problem with mental health, alcohol or drugs.

You can’t change their behaviour, but with the right tools you’ll get a better idea about why your loved one or family member behaves the way they do.

Together we will also learn about:

  • Positive communication
  • Positive reinforcement
  • Setting appropriate boundaries
  • Problem-solving skills to better your relationship with your loved one
  • How to navigate what is often a one-toned, ideologically-tinged treatment system
  • Available treatment approaches, settings, and medications that can be difficult to encounter through traditional channels
  • How to take better care of ourselves and shift the focus from your care-giving role so you can move forward with your life
  • Text and telephone support in between sessions is also provided.

If needed, we can plan and conduct an intervention to get your loved one the help they need anywhere in Perth. If an Intervention is not appropriate then we could look at engaging other support services and supports process with you.

You might not be ready to completely stop – and that’s okay. We work with people wherever they are at.

Our work with you here involves a lifestyle change rather than a clinical approach. You "might" not need counselling – but you’ll benefit from the one-on-one, goal-oriented accountability framework that Recovery Coaching offers. You’ll be surprised at how powerfully our weekly 45 minute to 2 hourly sessions will shift your loved one off their current path and put them into a place of strength and positive choice. Text and telephone support in between sessions is also provided.

I first met Vida in 2021 and for the past year she has been a huge support to both me, my 2 teenage sons and family as a whole. Her practical approach to life’s challenges provided us all with sound strategies to deal with a wide range of daily issues. My sons have huge respect for her and are very comfortable confiding in her, knowing that she can be trusted. Her holistic approach provides a range of tools that the boys have easily been able to utilise in times of stress, I have found her common sense approach plus lived experience has helped me to reflect clearly and pin point areas for personal growth. My sessions with her always leave me feeling in control of my life and excited about the journey!"
